Deceptively basic…at least that’s what you will think at first. But once you start playing around with the Door Jam Cuffs and see their true potential they can become a favorite toy under the right circumstance. I would not grab for these cuffs on my way to a play party. But when you are in a pinch, in a hotel room, a car, and why not even a quick alley naughty scene, the Door Jam Cuffs may be just the solution.

This inventive bondage device is made by Sportsheets, a novelty toy manufacturer mostly specialized in bondage, BDSM and fetish play. They are no alone in this market but the quality of their products far out-ways their main competitor by a long shot.  All of Sportsheets’ products remain basic in look and are mostly made out of black sturdy nylon straps or neoprene. Velcro is always use to tie things on or off. For a more hardcore scene Velcro is not too appealing but it is fabulous for beginners who need a sense of being able to get out fast of a situation should they want out. It makes it foolproof too. No need to wonder where the keys are lol.

The main purpose is to create an anchor point for restraint if you live in an apartment, with family or with roommates. Perhaps you cannot screw big bolts in your walls or ceiling. Most of us cannot exactly afford an Saint-Andrews Cross. Maybe you just lack space or you do not want to leave traces of your kinky life  for the others in your home. Door Jam Cuffs come to the rescue because you simply open your door, slide the door jams over the top of the door…or underneath the door… and close. Two tough plastic cylinders keep the straps from pulling through. And there you have it: two anchored wrist or ankle cuffs. All you have to do is Velcro in your willing partner. And don’t limit yourself to just doors….you could use them in a car, a sower door, a picnic table with tight slats, let your imagination run wild.

The kit arrived in a simple clam shell plastic box with one paper insert showing you how to use it. When I opened the box I was not to impressed off the bat. The thin faux fur cuffs have a sewn in nylon strap all the way around and are secured by a Velcro closure. Hooked directly to a loop in the cuff via a metal D-ring is another strong nylon strap which measures about 9 inches long. At the end a plastic tube, about 4 inches long, slips into athe strap. Each strap is about 20 inches in full length. Would it really be effective and strong enough?

The answer is yes. The Door Jam Cuffs really will keep the average person in place quite nicely. I tested them with the wrists and ankles and pulled as much as possible: the cuffs did not budge, there is no possible way of really damaging a door frame and the Velcro closure did not come loose either. Because of the faux fur the cuffs are extremely comfortable and do not chafe. Also the cuffs will fit just about any size wrist or ankle there is out there, for tiny ones to manly large ones. My advise though is if the wrist is small you better make sure to turn the cuff so the long strap is on the back of the hand…otherwise the victim could pull on the Velcro to escape.

I do have a small list of cons though. One person I tried the cuffs on is quite short so her arms were uncomfortably pulled up. Perhaps they should consider a way to adjust the length of the strap…like a bra strap. If the gap at the top of the door frame or bottom of the door is big the victim could slide left or right so you need to keep that in mind not to get maybe hurt in a heavy play session. Some doors have a very large gap to the floor and is just too big and the tubing may slide right out. Finally, I like to walk around the person I play, if they are up against a door that is just not possible.

These Door Jam Cuffs are totally portable and vegan friendly. The package does not include any cleaning instruction, I would recommend washing them in the sink with a bit of clothes detergent and hanging them up to dry, like you would with delicates. If you are looking for hardcore cuffs then this would not be for you but if you are a beginner or need something to travel with or that you can set up anywhere..the cuffs are awesome and deliver their promise of restraint.
