This post is way overdue. I admit I am an art lover and I love the occasional visit t the museum. I was even more thrilled when my dear kinky sister Miss Susan felt the same way as she was visiting me this early summer. What really sealed the deal this time was the star exposition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Jean-Paul Gaultier:From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk.
This French designer has bee nicknamed l’enfant terrible of fashion. definition of enfant terrible: an unconventional badly-behaved person who causes embarrassment or shock to others. His creations have been called decadent, shocking, playful, extreme, and a traiblazer.
Gaultier has moved beyond the catwalk too by designing twice for Madonna’s album tour, put Dita Von Teese in a stunning Birlesque costime and has designed costumes for a many films like The Fifth Element. He has created his line of perfumes, he recorded a song, he put men in skirts and corsets, and he used tattooed models on the runways.
But the reason I am really talking about him here is that many of his designs are forerunners in Goth and Fetish fashion, sometimes screaming sex and bondage. I am sure he is a bit of a kinkster. So without further ado, I present to you some highlights from the exposition Miss Susan and I just ADORED, like one of the best concept exhibits I have ever seen in my life.
