Eco Sex and Green BDSM

A friend of mine recently sent me an article concerning eco-friendly sex. Which led me to think is there such a thing as eco-friendly BDSM? So I searched the net for answers and solutions. Well let me tell you there was not a whole lot out there. But I did find a few gems:
.
Vegan condoms: yep…did you know regular condoms are not vegan? A milk protein called Casein is typically used in the manufacturing of latex for condoms. Does that mean its bad for those lactose intolerant too? Well fear not there is a solution. At this time there are two latex condoms on the market that don’t use casein in the manufacturing process: Glyde Condoms and Condomi. They are made with cocoa powder in place of milk protein.
.
Sex Toys: A study in 2000 by German chemist Hans Ulrich Krieg found that 10 dangerous chemicals gassed out of some sex toys available in Europe, including diethylhexyl phthalates. Other studies on rats and mice claim that exposure of these toxic chemicals could cause cancer and damage the reproductive system. Also many popular erotic toys are made of polyvinyl chlorides (PVC) and softened with phthalates. These include soft jelly and cyberskin toys and novelties.

So what are the eco-alternatives for green-conscious pleasure-seekers? The most ecologically correct choices may be metal, hard plastics, pure medical grade silicone, or glass dildos. Toys made of Polyethylene are a good choice to. Polyethylene is a plastic so although it is not biodegradable it can be recycled. VixSkin is a new silicone substitute and PVC can be replaced with thermoplastic elastomers.
.
There are a few solar powered vibration toys that do not require batteries: the Solar Vibe, the Solar Sensations Micro-Kitty Strap-On, and the Solar Sensations 3 Piece Kit.
.
Bits and pieces: you can purchase hemp sheets, organic massage oils, edibles, and beeswax candles or candles made from hydrogenated soybean oil or palm oil for atmosphere. Finally, dimming the lights is a suave maneuver to lower kilowatt consumption.
.
BDSM toys:Toys made of metal, nylon cord, rattan, Lorica (synthetic leather) and recycled rubber are a popular choice. Non vegans can choose leather. Here are some BDSM ecological toys:
.
- Vegan Erotica is a webstore specialized in vegan BDSM toys.
- Bondage Duckie, yes this bad bathtub duckie is eco-friendly
- BadAss Paddles are no longer made but maybe you can find one second-hand. They are made from the scrap left over from the end of the roll of tire making companies.
- Dildo harnesses made from 100% recycled rubber
- I found a company that makes 100% vegan bondage toys. Its called Fresh and the products are very colorful and made from polyethylen.
- Wax play…well I mentioned above beeswax candles or candles made from hydrogenated soybean oil or palm oil. The thing is beeswax has a high temperature so its not a beginner’s candle play choice, its for the pain sluts only. The temperature for hydrogenated soybean oil or palm oil candles would be classified as moderate. If you want to try hold the candle way up so the wax has time to cool before hitting the body.

Happy ecological sessions!
